The shades shown here are black out shades.  This bedroom faces the lake and gets a lot of sun in the morning, making it too bright for sleep.  As you see with the shade on the door, however, the shades close to a very small size, allowing for the view to be fully appreciated as desired by the occupant.  We softened the look of the shades by adding this swag.
